Our Mission
The University of Maryland School of Medicine's Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) provides a forum for students who are interested in the particular area of Family Medicine. It allows students to have a glimpse into the life of a family physician and learn about many facets of the field. It also provides students the ability to take a leadership role and actively assist their classmates by presenting topics that are of interest.
FMIG is sponsored by the Maryland Academy of Family Physicians and the Department of Family Medicine. Membership fees for first-year members are paid by the Maryland Academy and members receive monthly professional journals free of charge. FMIG sponsors events and lectures relevant to family medicine throughout the year. FMIG also encourages student leadership at the state and national levels.
